Already having achieved a pretty good standing among the music blogging community and some top spots on Beatport, Aman Ellis has dropped some new tracks under the name AIMES.
I guess adopting a different persona allows you a as an artist a little more freedom to experiment with your work. And experiment he does.
AIMES’ debut album Your Floor Is Now A Tree boasts lead single Every Time When I See You – both are rather strange titles – The track is almost a throwback to the early 70’s/80’s New York Club scene; it kinda makes you feel like you are in the centre of a mass of revolving lights. Heavy on the synthed out disco beats that come at you from all angles, each element is blended together really well on top of the bass line – I like it.
In my head the track would work out well if you took your whole evening from getting ready, to being in the club, to getting home and used it as your soundtrack to your montage.
On the flip side to this track is Is A Good Friend? – A little more spaced out and trippy to the previous track, it’s still pretty full of bass funk which makes the transition between the tracks pretty easy. It’s a little bizarre though, but in that day-dream kind of sense.
