Always having a strong interest in music, it was in 2009 when I joined the team at UJFM campus station here in Johannesburg. Making my way up the ranks from doing the mandatory graveyard slots, I eventually got to hosting/co-hosting the 12-3pm lunch time slot. While at UJFM I was involved in all aspects of the station:. From sales to being a part of the music team.

In my time here on earth I have dabbled in some music writing for some publications, I’ve been a part of the Instant Grass team, helping brands become more awesome. Now, currently liver of life and enjoyer of things. Mainly music and radio – I am the founder of the etm.fm station and work as the station manager and general make things work guy.

Music will always be there, so share it with everyone you know and support it wherever you can.

Preneil Pillay

So, I’m a kid in the world, but no kidder when it comes to the South African music industry. Kicked off my media career in 2008 when I joined campus radio station UJFM 95.4, based in Johannesburg, South Africa. I started off as a DJ/ presenter, earning my way to the afternoon drive slot. I also had a show dedicated to SA music- bands in particular. During my time there, I joined the music team, and was also the Interview Manager. It is then that I realized what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.

In 2010, I traded the on-air vibes to take up a position at one of Gauteng’s Hottest Frequencies. If not the hottest.
YFM 99.2 was my new home. It still is. I am privileged to be a part of the YFMusic team, as one of the music compilers. This is where I remain- learning the tricks of the trade, and loving every minute. Who wouldn’t? Getting paid to work with music.

So, here I am now. Living music. Music is music. No matter the genre. It’s art. Music is life. Share it!
